10 Inspiring Success and Growth Quotes

By Danel Homméus on May 11, 2013 in Wisdom of Quotes

New formatI enjoy reading quotes. They condense ideas into a powerful energy of inspiration; they  are empowering, illuminating and generate freedom. I invite you to read and appreciate these 10 inspiring success and growth quotes. I’ve added a  few comments after each one.

1–     “I was born a slave, but nature gave me a soul of a free man…”

Toussaint Louverture- The First Black Man

The 4 Ps point:

The greatest asset someone can have is freedom. Despite of what you’ve been through,  your mindset gives you the possibility to stay free. You should know that your real    success starts with your freedom. After all, what can serve you to be successful without  freedom?  Think about it.

2-     “Being successful is not the owning of the world, but instead the joy that you take in each accomplishment of your life.”

Danel Homméus- Founder of the 4 Pillars of Success

The 4 Ps point:

All the resources in the world won’t be useful to you if you’re not living with happiness. The true purpose of having something is to increase your level of happiness. One of the easiest ways to be happy is to reward yourself for your efforts in your everyday activity. Don’t wait to reach the sky to be happy: you might never be. Please don’t postpone your happiness. Feel it and generate it now.

3–     “When I was growing up, my dad would encourage my brother and I to fail. We would be sitting at the dinner table and he would ask, ‘So what did you guys fail at this week?’ If we didn’t have something to contribute, he would be disappointed. When I did fail at something, he’d high-five me. What I didn’t realize at the time was that he was completely reframing my definition of failure at a young age. To me, failure means not trying; failure isn’t the outcome. If I have to look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘I didn’t try that because I was scared,’ that is failure.”

Sara Blakely –  Founder of Spanx

The 4 Ps point:

One of the greatest masters in life is failure. When you fail, you have an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to become better. Failure offers an occasion to forge character and to get to know the people around you. What you should take into account is the definition of the term and the way you understand it.

4–  “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”

Winston Churchill- Nobel Prize in Literature 1953, Prime Minister of Great Britain

The 4 Ps point:

You can fail and fail again until you reach success. At this point success is the sum of your failures, but losing your enthusiasm is very bad if you want to experience success. According to Churchill, if your enthusiasm –a strong excitement of feeling– is still there, chances are you can obtain success.

5–  “As a child, I can’t recall a day that went by without my dad telling me I could do anything I set my mind to. He said it so often, I stopped hearing it. Along with lines like “eat your vegetables, I just assumed it was one of those bromides that parents repeated endlessly to their kids. It wasn’t until decades later that I fully appreciated the importance of those words and the impact they had on me.”

Jeff Weiner –CEO of LinkedIn

The 4 Ps point:

Often words of wisdom take time to be fully understood and appreciated. But when you finally use them properly, you can ask yourself: why have I taken so much time? It’s human nature, and if there is no boundary in your mind, then you can be more faithful to yourself and feel more capable of accomplishing great things in your life.

6–  “The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing.”

Socrates- Ancient Greek Philosopher

The 4 Ps point:

If you want to make progress, what you know is always less than the knowledge you are supposed to master. You should be modest and ready to learn from anyone.

7–  “Money won’t create success, the freedom to make it will.”

Nelson Mandela-Freedom-fighter, former President of South Africa, and Nobel Peace Prize 1993

The 4 Ps point:

Having money doesn’t necessarily mean success: it depends on your point of view. After all, success is more attitude than action. For example, if your dream of success is to win an Olympic medal, consider that someone else might win three and yet remain unsatisfied. In the end, what really matters is passion and the expression of your authentic being along the path to your dream.

8–  “My mother always taught me never to look back in regret but to move on to the next thing. The amount of time people waste dwelling on failures rather than putting that energy into another project, always amazes me. I have fun running ALL the Virgin businesses — so a setback is never a bad experience, just a learning curve.”

Richard Branson– CEO of Virgin

The 4 Ps point:

Here is an important point: regret won’t really serve you in resolving problems. Being successful or happy have nothing to do with your past. Regret evokes the feeling of what I call “what could have been:” it can’t help you with today’s issues.  If you have to look back, do it to learn and understand, not as a refuge.

9 “I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure — which is: Try to please everybody.

Herbert B. Swope- Editor, Journalist and Pulitzer Price for Reporting

The 4 Ps point:

There’s no general formula for becoming successful. However, there are principles of success — disciplines and pillars of success (The 4 Ps) to follow and practice in order to reach your goal. It’s easy to fail, to do nothing. Another way to fail is to try to please everyone: you can’t so don’t try, please! Whatever you do or say, you’ll find someone who disagrees with you — that is life. It’s better to adapt yourself, be yourself, and please who you can.

10– “Just because Fate doesn’t deal you the right cards, it doesn’t mean you should give up. It just means you have to play the cards you get to their maximum potential.”

Les Brown, Author, Motivational Speaker

The 4 Ps point:

Never live in desperation just because you don’t get what you think you deserve. Someone who takes proper care of his or her life doesn’t complain or blame anyone else. No matter what, the universe will finally hear your voice, so it’s better for you to persevere with what you have until you can get what you ultimately want.
